Main Street
Main Street 2024 Technical Visit update:
The $7500 grant from Main Street for a Technical Visit is being utilized towards updating the 2015 Downtown Master Plan. City Planners Giffels Webster were retained for the update as they crafted the 2015 plan which received recognition by the American Planners Associationreo as best of small city plans.

A progress report was given to the DDA showing the effectiveness of the current plan which called for development such as the ACE project, the Weiss/Sabbath type improvements, the improvements to making an inviting public space with the E. 14 Mile alley and the anticipated Burger King site development. The new plan will include considerations for potential parking and roadway improvements. Discussions on building heights, ground floor uses on multi-use projects, and potential zoning change considerations will also be topics for consideration. These will all be part of future public meetings and surveys with residents.

Grant follow ups

  • Pedestrian crossing signal update: The update of the crossing signal at E. 14 & Florence is delayed while repair is completed to the signal base in the island.
  • Alley Heart Artwork: Further modifications to the artwork supports have been completed to allow the art to be temporarily removed during the remodel of the adjacent building to take place next year. The art will be installed in the next few weeks!
