 Commercial construction projects continue in and around the downtown

  • 400 S. Main continues renovation for potential Loaded Dice brewery location
  • 516 N. Main; townhome development building exterior nearly complete
  • Clawson Manor, 255 E. 14 Mile; (senior high rise); exterior building renovation completed
  • 436-456 W. 14 Mile, plans have been approved by Planning Commission for an apartment development. Demolition of the existing vacant residential properties will be the next step with plans to have that completed before winter

Grant follow ups

  • Pedestrian crossing signal update: City engineering firm, AEW, has put the signal base repair and install of the High-Intensity crossWalk (HAWK) signal out for bid

Committee Reports
Landscaping

  • We have volunteers Kathy Phillips and Carol McLean for the evergreens in the planters.
  • SW & NE corner planters were moved to the NW corner due to concerns over snow clearing at the crosswalks and will be returned to the original corner spots in the Spring.
  • Oakland County Parks employees cut back all of the plantings in the pedestrian islands. The plantings and maintenance, to date, have been done by the county parks thanks to a grant. They are preparing a maintenance plan for the city to follow beginning this Spring.

Alley Heart Artwork

  • The artwork was completed and then was modified into two art pieces to accommodate upcoming building changes along the alley. The first part – the heart – is now in place and an official ribbon cutting will be at a later date.

Other News

  • Holiday lights on several streetlights are unlit due to faulty connections on the poles. The problem has been reported to DTE who own the poles.
  • Downtown Clawson Dollars remain available on downtownclawsoncom. Limited bonus cards still remain.
