Project Updates.

Pedestrian safety

  • TIA, the city traffic consultant, has issued a draft report on pedestrian crossing safety at the 14 Mile & Main intersection. The report analyzed traffic volume data, pedestrian counts, observational study and crash data. Recommendations and strategies were provided. The Design Committee will review and the final study is to be presented to the Traffic & Safety Board at the December meeting.
  • The archway for the East 14 Mile alley entrance is complete and will be delivered next week depending on the DPW schedule.

Main Street

The National Main Street Conference is scheduled for March 25-27 in Seattle. Travel scholarships in the amount of $500 are being offered this year through Main Street Oakland County. We have applied for two scholarships which is the maximum allowed.

Committee Reports

The October events were successful. Attendance was good at Trick or Treasure despite the difficult weather and the Pubkin Crawl – with over 200 attendees – was a great fundraiser for the DDA. Ideas for summer scavenger/crawl events will be explored.
