Summer has flown by and we are already full into the Fall season. Where does the time go? So much has been happening in our downtown. Here are a few of the highlights:
New ordinances have been passed to align with the Downtown Master Plan. Next will be consideration of zoning changes to tie everything together in a nice comprehensive package. This means residents, builders and developers will have the property information they need in an understandable and easy to access format. It’s always nice when things are easy to understand.
We’ve had a few business changes with Paperback Trade Inn closing after 35 years (we’ll miss you Christi) and the business changing to the Grey Wolfe Scriptorium – a book store plus publishing company. D’lazo Salon has new owners and a new look and is now known as Element Salon & Spa. Another long time Clawson business – Old Port Inn – welcomed an updated interior and a name change to Robbie’s of Clawson. Newly opened is Unchained, a boxing and training gym, with a formal ribbon cutting coming in the very near future.
In other business news we welcome continued renovation efforts. Tavern on the Main continues to make interior decor changes and started last week on front facade improvements. All part of a total renovation that has already included a building addition and new kitchen. The Tavern just continues to improve. And, the big news this week, is the beginning of the facade changes to 38-53 E. 14 Mile. A new look coming to the building that houses Flipside Records, Noble Fish, Tirana Cafe, Just Us Salon and Water to Go. Whew!
Meantime we are also gearing up for our downtown Halloween celebrations on Saturday, October 28 with Trick-or-Treasure from noon-3p for the little tykes and The Great Pubkin Crawl in the evening for the over-21 crowd.
Lots happening in Downtown Clawson!!
